AliExpress wants to make Singles Day popular in Brazil
  • AliExpress will offer discounts up to 70% on November 11th in Brazil
  • The Chinese retailer will have local partners, such as EBANX, helping on the mission of making the sales event popular
  • The efforts on Double 11 in Brazil are part of the goal to keep expanding the shopping date around the world

While worldwide Single’s Day, or Double 11, exceeded Black Friday results, in Latin America this shopping event is still at a relatively early stage. But on what depends upon AliExpress, this is about to change.

The Chinese giant, which leads the ranking of international e-commerce stores in Brazil, will offer discounts of up to 70% to Brazilian consumers on November 11th. “We will ensure the lowest prices of the year”, revealed Ken Huang, the responsible for AliExpress’ operation in Latin America, in an interview for the Brazilian media outlet Valor Econômico.

This is not the first time that AliExpress releases huge discounts for Double 11 in Brazil, but now the company is giving the first steps and putting efforts into making the promotional date truly popular in the country. To do this, AliExpress will count on the help of local partners, such as EBANX, the payment processing fintech that has recently become a Brazilian unicorn and has a long business history with the Chinese retailer in Brazil.

In 2018, according to data from Adobe, Single’s Day achieved in only twenty minutes the total amount reached by Black Friday and Cyber Monday together, $6.5 billion. By the end of the day, Double 11 sales reached $30.8 billion worldwide, increasing by 27% its results in relation to the previous year.

Even though AliExpress has not released its Brazil sales forecast for 2019 yet, the goal now is to keep growing, and making Double 11 popular in countries such as Brazil has all to do with it.
