Brazil's Via Varejo has 20.2% high in GMV sales at Christmas 2020

The company attributed the result to a strong performance of e-commerce sales

Brazil’s retailer Via Varejo reported on Monday a 20.2% increase in sales in the period from 19 to 25 December compared to the same period last year, considering the metric of Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV), according to preliminary and unaudited data.

In a statement to the market, the company attributed the result to a strong performance of e-commerce sales (direct sale + marketplace), which increased by 125.2% year on year.

Via Varejo also said that the participation of the online seller (‘Me chama no Zap’ – WhatsApp services-) was 24% of e-commerce sales in the period, 16% in the third quarter of 2020.
