Win Sports, a Colombian pay-TV sports network, has seen a 339% increase in subscriptions to its streaming platform, Win Sports Online, from February 2019 to February 2020. The company did not disclose the exact number of viewers that now use the platform, but noted in a press release a “growing trend and preference for consuming content through digital channels”.
The bulk of Win Sports’s audience comes from traditional cable and satellite pay-TV operators, a segment where it is also reporting substantial growth. According to La Republica, the network, which dedicates its programming to soccer and is owned by RCN Televisión, a national broadcaster, and DirecTV, expected to achieve 500,000 subscribers to its new premium channel, Win Sports+, by the end of 2020, but announced 40% of the goal was reached within 40 days of operations.

“On our part, this result drives our commitment to deliver quality content and tailored expectations to soccer fans, to continue investing in formats and technology, and to keep our ability to listen to our subscribers, to guarantee the continuous improvement of the offer”, said Jaime Parada, president of Win Sports.
Women’s soccer
The company announced it will start broadcasting the South American Under-17 and Under-20 Women’s Soccer Championships, improving the extent of women’s leagues matches in its programming. The U-17 and U-20 Women’s tournaments will be held this year in Venezuela and Argentina, respectively.
