Mexico confirms first coronavirus case, the second in Latin America

This Friday the Brazilian government announced that a total of 132 cases are under investigation in the country

The Government of Mexico confirmed this Friday the first case of coronavirus in the country. The authorities also reported that they follow up on another alleged case.

According CNN Español, the confirmed patient is hospitalized at the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases in Mexico City, said Hugo López-Gatell, deputy secretary of Health Prevention and Promotion of Mexico.

The patient with coronavirus is a man of 35 years resident of Mexico City and who traveled to Italy from the 14th to the 22nd of February.

The other person is also a 41 year old man, resident of Hidalgo, who is currently in a hotel in Sinaloa. He also traveled to Italy and in the preliminary test there was a positive result for coronavirus. A second exam needs to be done to definitively confirm the presence of the virus.
