Disney‘s streaming service, Disney Plus, debuted in Brazil a year ago, more precisely on November 17th, 2020. The Just Watch platform found out which series and movies were most watched by Brazilian consumers during this period.
Since Disney Plus debuted in the global market, Marvel is pointed out as the service’s flagship – analysts even point out that the series of superhero movies from the Marvel Universe is possibly what will allow Disney to have more tranquility to grow its user base while competing market with other streaming giants such as Netflix, HBO Max and Amazon Prime.
That way, it is no surprise that Marvel productions dominate the ranking of the most watched shows on Disney Plus in Brazil, with five titles within the Top 10: WandaVision, Loki, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What If…?.
Among the most popular shows on the platform, Marvel has racked up 42.4% of the audience.
But the absolute leader of the Top 10 Series is a Disney original production: The Mandalorian, which alone took 40.8% of the audience among the most watched shows. Completing the list are The Simpsons, The Owl House, Gravity Falls and Once Upon a Time.
In the Top 10 most-watched movies in Brazil, meanwhile, Marvel fell behind, which may surprise some fans considering the highly-anticipated release of Black Widow (which came in fifth place). Two Pixar animations lead the list: Soul, with 18.7% of the audience among the most popular movies, and Luca, with 17.7%.
Pixar also appears on the list with Coco and Inside Out, taking in total 47.4% of the audience among the most popular films on the platform in Brazil. Live action versions of classic Disney films also appeared well positioned on the list, such as Cruella, in third place, and Mulan, in sixth.
