Disney's streaming platform Disney+ is officially here, but presented some technical issues

New streaming service has officially launched this Tuesday, 12, in the US and Canada

Available starting from today, November 12, at a monthly price of $6.99, Disney+ has officially launched in the US and Canada, bringing original content such as the first episode of the very first live-action Star Wars series, “The Mandalorian.”

The streaming service becomes now the exclusive home of productions from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Disney itself. For $12.99 per month, Disney is also offering a special package called Disney Bundle with all its streaming platforms Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu in a single subscription.

According to information from TechCrunch, the platform’s President of Content and Marketing, Ricky Strauss, forecasted that in its first year, Disney+ will launch 30 original series and 15 movies and specials, besides having a library of 7,500 TV episodes and more than 500 films. All these original productions are set to cost $1 billion to the company during the first year. By 2024, Disney+ expects to raise this spent up to $2.5 billion, when the executive also predicts the service to break even, reaching 60 to 90 million paying subscribers.

As soon as the new service was launched, some users started to report technical issues, such as long wait times and error messages like “unable to connect”, forcing them to exit the platform and try to reconnect later. “The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our highest expectations,” stated a public relations spokesperson from the company. “While we are pleased by this incredible response, we are aware of the current user issues and are working to swiftly resolve them. We appreciate your patience,” concluded.
