Brazilian mobile commerce platform Movile, iFood‘s parent company, has announced this week a new investment in a Colombian last-mile delivery startup: Mensajeros Urbanos.

With undisclosed value, the new funding will boost the operations of the Colombian startup, which is willing to expand over Colombia and Mexico. “We have been supporting Mensajeros Urbanos for several years, and the team’s ability to execute the service with simplified resources and build a solid lead in last-mile logistics in Colombia, and now in Mexico, continues to impress us,” says Patrick Hruby, CEO at Movile.

Working with a multimodal operation, with motorcycles, bicycles, cars, trucks, and distribution centers, Mensajeros Urbanos will also open 50 new warehouses in the main cities where it operates in order to reduce delivery times.

According to Forbes Brasil, the company counts on artificial intelligence to optimize routes and meet demands such as same-day deliveries. Mensajeros Urbanos is a partner of large consumer goods companies in the re-stocking of neighborhood stores, where consumption increased during the pandemic.

The logistics company runs more than 1.2 million monthly deliveries. “This is an ideal time to expand our operation and add new innovative services to our portfolio of solutions. Movile’s investment will allow us to continue growing in Latin America, improve logistics efficiencies and provide outstanding customer service,” Mensajeros Urbanos CEO Santiago Pineda told Forbes.
