  • The donations were distributed to more than 650.000 people in socially vulnerable situations in Brazil;

Through its platform, the Brazilian food-tech iFood managed to collect 1,6 thousand tons of food and more than 108.000 ready meals in 2020. Donations were made through the app and distributed to more than 650.000 people in socially vulnerable situations in Brazil. This social action is part of the “Feeding Brazil” project, created in early 2020 as one of iFood’s work fronts to generate positive social impact.

For Luciana Vaz, head of Sustainable Solutions at iFood, the result achieved in that first year is related to technology, the high flow of users and a simple and practical user experience – a combination that stimulated the consumers’ adhesion to the social cause and facilitated  donations. “We were able to generate a positive impact both in perennial projects and in emergency causes, such as during the energy blackout in Amapá”, explains Luciana.

Besides the donations made by consumers, the food-tech created another action front to support local restaurants called “Todos à Mesa”, which consists of partnerships with large companies, such as Coca-Cola Brasil, Mastercard and Unilever, who donate discount coupons and ready-made meals  to encourage demand for local restaurants and donation to vulnerable people.

How to donate – iFood donation platform is permanent and, for those who want to contribute, just open the app, go to Profile, select “Donations” and choose one of the partners institutions. It’s possible to inform the donation amount and to choose between three options (basic baskets, ready meals and organic basic baskets). The payment is with a credit card.
