Nuvemshop, a Latin American e-commerce unicorn that serves more than 90,000 online stores in the region, will commit BRL 30 million to a new business unit in Brazil focused on growth-stage companies that use the startup‘s solutions. Called Nuvemshop Next, the new business arm will offer a more specialized service to customers who make between BRL 100,000 and BRL 10 million per month in e-commerce.

The funds allocated to Nuvemshop Next for 2022 include the Product, Technology and Services areas, and at least 50% will be invested in new features and integrations in the platform.

Nuvemshop Next’s launch meets a growing demand from entrepreneurs who are in the growth stage, driven by the e-commerce boom in the country. Last year, according to the NuvemCommerce survey, small and medium-sized online businesses handled BRL 2.3 billion, up 77% compared to the same period in 2020. And the prospects for the coming years are equally optimistic: according to the Beyond Borders study, by 2025 e-commerce in Brazil is expected to keep growing steadily at 30% per year.

Nuvemshop does not disclose numbers regarding growth and revenue targets with the new business arm, but according to Guilherme Pedroso, country manager of Nuvemshop in Brazil, the potential customer base is considerable and Next is one of Nuvemshop’s main growth boosters. “With this investment in Nuvemshop Next, we will have a product that is very suitable to the company’s growth and aligned with the customers’ needs,” he said.

Nuvemshop Next is the evolution of the Nuvemshop Enterprise Plan, a kind of upgrade of a solution that was already offered by the company to keep pace with the growth of customers with revenues between BRL 100,000 and BRL 10 million.

“Although there are players in the market focused on large accounts, there are not many products dedicated to customers with this revenue range, because they are usually considered as too small for larger investments,” Pedroso explained.

Nuvemshop Next’s greatest differential is the customized service. While an account manager will work on developing management strategies oriented to e-commerce results, a project manager will structure and follow up on the e-commerce upgrade.

Customers will also have access to tailored solutions according to the needs of their business, through an open ecosystem that allows the integration of all kinds of solutions designed for the entrepreneur.

“Nuvemshop Next has teams focused on these needs. Some examples are our own storage and logistics system, credit card with gift card add-on, products customized by the customer before checkout, and other customized features that solve a specific problem for the customer,” said Pedroso.
