Scooter rental company Lime is leaving Latin America just six months after landing in the region. The American micromobility company was operating in the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Bogota (Colombia), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Montevideo (Uruguay), Lima (Peru) and Puerto Vallarta (Mexico).

The downsizing of Lime’s operations in the region is the result of a quest for “financial sustainability”, Lime said in a statement sent to the Brazilian news agency O Globo.
Lime was founded in 2017, in the United States, and started offering bicycle rentals.
