Mercado Libre and Nubank in Time's ranking of the 100 most influential companies in the world

E-commerce giant and neobank are the only Latin American companies on the list organized by the North American magazine

The American magazine Time released on Tuesday the TIME100 Most Influential Companies ranking, a list that recognizes the 100 most influential companies with the greatest positive impact in the world. Only two Latin American companies are part of the selection: the Argentine e-commerce giant Mercado Libre and the Brazilian neobank Nubank.

The two companies appear in the Leaders category. Time’s ranking also includes the categories Pioneers, Innovators, Titans and Disruptors. Click here to see the full list.

According to Time, Mercado Libre stands out for its gigantic logistics and transportation operation, in addition to digital payment services, on a huge and populous continent that presents challenges both for its geography and for economic instability.

Nubank was presented as the largest fintech in Latin America that helps millions of Latin Americans to have access to financial services in a simplified way by smartphone. The text also highlights how the Brazilian banking system is known for its “poor service, long wait times, labyrinthine bureaucracy and high fees.”
