This Wednesday, July 15, NBCUniversal’s Peacock makes its highly anticipated entrance into the streaming wars, as the company announced in a press release.
Among free and premium subscription options, Peacock will offer more than 13,000 hours of programming in its free service, while Peacock Premium will feature more than 20,000 hours of content. With the launch, Peacock’s parent company seeks to unite NBC’s shows, Universal’s films, and original content into the same platform.
According to what the company informed, the service offers an ad-supported free tier and an ad-supported premium tier for $4.99/month, with about five minutes of advertising per hour. For those wanting a full ad-free version, the premium line is also available for $9.99/month.
“Both free and premium tiers will feature current season hits from NBC, timely news, sports, and pop culture highlights, and dozens of genre channels including live news from NBC News Now and Sky News, exclusive curated channels featuring the best moments from your favorite shows like The Office, Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” stated the company, further adding a long list of content in the announcement.
Among movies in the free tier highlights are The Bourne Trilogy; Jurassic Park, American Psycho, Phantom Thread, and The Matrix saga. Besides everything in the free subscription, Peacock Premium will feature the full catalog of Peacock Originals such as Brave New World, The Capture, Intelligence, and Psych 2: Lassie Come Home.
Asked about Peacock’s launch in Latin American markets, NBCUniversal told LABS that the company is currently focused on the domestic launch and it will have more information on its international strategy at a later date.
