Netflix announced on Thursday that it will open an office in Bogotá, Colombia later this year.
“Ten years ago Colombia opened its doors to Netflix. Between this year and the next, Netflix informed that it will shoot over 30 new series, films, documentaries and specials in the country, including already announced titles such as Ritmo Salvaje, Locombianos and the second season of Chichipatos.
According to the streaming giant, these titles are part of a local investment package of over US$ 175 million aimed at Colombia, invested from 2014 to this year.
With an eye on localization strategies, earlier in January Netflix also announced a US$ 300 million investment in more than 50 original productions in Mexico. Mexico was also chosen by the streaming giant to host its headquarters for Latin America.
