Three months was all Nubank took to go from 15 million customers to 20 million. The Brazilian decacorn announced today, by launching a special marketing campaign called “Purple Nation, that the company reached this new milestone and already has more customers on its basis than the population of countries such as Chile and Portugal.

“Achieving the 20 million users mark, a huge contingent that is larger than the population of many countries, shows that we are succeeding in our intention to reinvent a traditional market. We created a real “Purple Nation” with 20 million customers who are now free to easily control their own money,” stated Cristiana Junqueira, Nubank’s co-founder, according to information from the media outlet B9.

To celebrate the achievement, the company promoted the date of Jan 20 as the official “Purple Nation” day, in a reference of its 20 million customers.

In Latin America, besides its headquarter in Brazil, the company is also expanding to Mexico and Argentina.
