Singapore-based Sea‘s Shopee, an e-commerce platform, will open a distribution center in Brazil. The warehouse is being built in Barueri, in the state of São Paulo, as reported by O Globo.
Very popular in Singapore, its homeland, Shopee also has a strong presence in Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Brazil was the giant’s first bet beyond Southeast Asia and now the company wants to sharpen the dispute with the big local e-commerce players, such as Mercado Libre and Magazine Luiza.
Today, Shopee is the e-commerce eighth-most accessed by Brazilians, according to data are from Similarweb at Beyond Borders, a study by EBANX, owner of LABS.
According to Reuters, Shopee already has more local domestic sellers in Brazil than sellers from other countries.
