Uber and Surf launch prepaid plan with unlimited Uber Driver

Driver and delivery partners will be able to hire a cheaper prepaid plan to use the app and other products, such as Whatsapp unlimited

Last week, Uber launched, in partnership with Surf, a telecom that offers white-label connection service solutions, Uber Chip, a prepaid cell phone plan in which the driver or delivery partner does not need to use their own data package to use the Uber Driver app.

In other words, the Uber partner will be able to receive and answer customer calls without spending on their own mobile internet plan. The plan is contracted on a quarterly basis and costs up to BRL 50.00 per month, with discounts of up to 60%, depending on the partner category in the Uber Pro benefits program.

According to the company, Uber Chip is the world’s first prepaid plan to allow unlimited browsing on the app, in addition to Waze. The plan also includes unlimited Whatsapp, 9GB of internet per month, 100 monthly SMS and unlimited calls to fixed and mobile numbers of any operator.

According to Surf and Uber, the new product will be available only to partners in the city of São Paulo at that first moment; the expectation is that the offer will extend to the whole country until the end of 2021.
