Uber is enabling credit cards in Argentina again

Since a decision in favour of Uber in May, the possibility of using a credit card on the platform has gradually returned, and is now available to all users

According to La Nacion, Uber has started to enable credit card payments on its platform in Argentina. A 2018 court decision had blocked this payment method for the company, which has been allowing cash transactions in the Argentine capital since then.

Uber arrived in Buenos Aires in April 2016 and, since then, has fought a legal battle and also in the streets, as it gains more users and partner drivers, to continue in the country. The resumption of enabling credit cards as a means of payment is another battle won, and another sign that the app gaining ground in Argentina.

In September 2018, the company and its CEO were ordered to pay a $60,000 fine. In addition, the company was disqualified from providing any passenger transport services.

The decision was overturned in May 2019, when the court ruled that Uber’s activity cannot be considered a misdemeanor in the country. Since then, the possibility of using a credit card on the platform has gradually returned, and is now available to all users.
