Black Friday hit a record $7.4 billion in US online sales

According to Bloomberg, Black Friday hit a record $7.4 billion in US online sales. It was the second biggest online sales day ever in the country, just a little behind 2018 Cyber Monday’s, with its $7.9 billion in sales. That’s what a survey of 80 of the top 100 U.S. online retailers from Adobe Analytics showed.

It seems that American shoppers are less keen on waiting for Cyber Monday as they were a few years ago. Also according to Bloomberg, purchases made by smartphone on Friday accounted for $2.9 billion in sales, the most ever.

“With Christmas now rapidly approaching, consumers increasingly jumped on their phones rather than standing in line,” said Adobe analyst Taylor Schreiner to the news media outlet. According to Adobe’s survey one out of five dollars will be spent between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday this holiday season.

Still, about 6% more people visited stores this year, according the International Council of Shopping Centers.
