A survey of Christmas shopping intent by the National Confederation of Shopkeepers in Brazil (CNDL) and the SPC Brazil Credit Protection Bureau shows that 41% of Brazilian consumers will buy Christmas gifts from online stores. The percentage is the same as those who stated that they will make purchases relative to the date in physical stores. In third place are shopping malls, with 37% of respondents’ preference. Of those who mentioned the Internet as a favorite place for Christmas shopping, eight out of ten will buy at least half of the gifts this way, and 15% will buy all the gifts online. Additionally, 80% of them will use websites and apps to compare prices before deciding what to buy.
“The Brazilian will search more on the internet and buy more too,” said the chief economist of SPC Brazil and responsible for the research, Marcela Kawauti, to the newspaper.
