The COVID-19 pandemic made the movement of cargo transportation through Mexico City International Airport decrease by 50% in comparison to the same period last year, according to Milenio.

The aviation specialist interviewed by the Mexican media outlet, Fernando Gómez Suárez, indicated that this scenario reflects the closure of borders and the travel restrictions that various countries implemented as a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

He also says that this scenario will continue in May, as airlines continued to decrease the number of flights for transportation and cargo, and like the passenger market, the recovery will be slow.
