Pix transactions in Brazil will start with a security value limit, says Valor

The limit of most transactions will be the one that the customer has today for payments with debit

Transactions on Pix, an instant payment system by the Brazilian Central Bank, will be limited in value depending on ownership and time, for security reasons. According to Brazilian Central Bank data obtained by Valor Econômico, the limit of most transactions will be the one that the customer has today for payments with debit.

From the launch until the end of February, the debit will be the reference for transactions of different ownerships made with QR Code or PIX key not pre-registered on working days and times, and also for payments made during the night, and on weekends and holidays.

Operations with the same ownership carried out within 8:00 pm on business days, or with different ownership carried out on the internet, or with a pre-registered key or whose data is entered manually will have a limit equivalent to 50% of the maximum amount of transactions authorized for that client.

As of March next year, there will be an easing and some transactions at Pix may be done with the client’s transactions limit.
