WarnerMedia, an AT&T company, officially announced its new streaming service: HBO Max, arriving in 2020 and will release classic shows like Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Pretty Little Liars. Watch the video announcement below:
The new service will showcase other WarnerMedia brands like the HBO originals Game of Thrones, Sopranos, and Westworld, while also debuting new shows called Max Originals. Reese Witherspoon and Greg Berlanti (The Flash) are among the collaborators.
The company confirmed that a beta version of HBO Max will be out by the end of 2019, probably only in the USA. According to Deadline, an “ad-supported offering is also in the works, though subscription will be the first phase“.
This announcement marks the most important step of WarnerMedia in the streaming war against Netflix, since it unites not only the major brands, but also other VOD services like DC Entertainment and HBO Go, all in one place. There isn’t any news about its release in Latin America yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as there is an announcement.
