Apple Music is being launched in 9 additional Latin American and Caribbean markets

The debut is part of a big expansion announced by Apple that also includes other services and regions

Apple announced it is expanding its Apple Music service to nine additional markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, among other regions. The company is also launching its services App Store, Apple Podcasts and iCloud in dozens different countries and territories in Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Middle East.

The move represents one of the biggest geographical expansions for the iPhone maker, according to TechCrunch.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, Apple Music is expanding to Uruguay, Guyana, Suriname, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Turks and Caicos. The service, which Apple said is being reinforced with locally curated playlists, is also debuting in 25 additional markets from other continents.

The services App Store, Apple Arcade, Apple Podcasts, and iCloud are now available in 20 additional nations. 

“We’re delighted to bring many of Apple’s most beloved Services to users in more countries than ever before,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and International Content, in a statement.

“We hope our customers can discover their new favorite apps, games, music, and podcasts as we continue to celebrate the world’s best creators, artists, and developers,” he added.

Competition

The App Store is now available in 175 countries and regions, whereas Apple Music has reached 167 markets. In comparison, music streaming service giant Spotify is available in fewer than 100 nations.
