The Brazilian government is not placing any restrictions on Huawei in its planned auction for fifth-generation (5G) networks. The announcement was made by the GSI, the office of the government’s national security adviser, and published officially last Friday (27), as CanalTech reported.
The Brazilian administration certified that the Chinese manufacturer meets all the cybersecurity requirements and can freely bid for the auction, scheduled to take place at the end of the year.

It is noteworthy that recently the diplomatic relationship between Brazil and China was shaken after statements by congressmen Eduardo Bolsonaro. The son of President Jair Bolsonaro already claimed that the company could pose a risk of spying to the country in its participation in the 5G auction.
Huawei is expected to play a big role in deploying 5G networks in Latin America despite U.S. efforts to block that growth. The company is barred from developing 5G equipment in the US and a few other countries over concerns about its ties to Beijing and possible security threats.
