Officially operating for only three months, the Brazilian C6 Bank already has an incubator open to the community

The fintech that was born with digital banking status wants to expand its open innovation DNA

This fintech was officially born in August this year with 200,000 customers and free-of-charge transactions, as already shown by LABS. C6 Bank, the newest Brazilian digital bank, has announced the creation of an idea incubator in an interview with Forbes Brasil.

According to the publication, Opp Garage will be a program that will seek solutions to typical C6 Bank business issues involving students, developers and technology enthusiasts, and will have three issues in 2020 within Opp, the startup program that was born together with C6 Bank.

Behind the company, are former executives of the major Brazilian investment bank BTG-Pactual, as Marcelo Kalim, controlling shareholder, Leandro Torres and others.

With a social capital of BRL 315 million, the partners plan to invest a total of BRL 500 million in the company by 2019. And they know they need to use these features to accelerate their expansion in an environment with more established names such as Nubank and Banco Inter.

“Now we have Opp Startups, which accelerates business, and Opp Garage, which accelerates ideas. Both are mainly focused on people, which generate opportunities from their relationship with C6, ” Opp’s head Thiago Soares told Forbes.

The program will select up to 10 proposals and award up to three of them with BRL 20,000 each. Winners may choose to develop their ideas at the bank hub or outside. If they choose the first option and manage to develop a prototype, they can receive another BRL 20,000.
