- Colombia’s government focus is to be 70% connected in 4G by 2024;
- The auction for 5G is on the government’s roadmap for next year or 2022.
In an interview with the Colombian newspaper La República, Karen Abudinen, the Minister of Information Technologies and Communications in Colombia, said that “the auction for 5G technology could be held next year or in 2022.”
Abudinen assured that before conducting a spectrum auction for the 5G, Colombia will bet on the connectivity of the 4G.
“We have 5G pilots in many areas of the country, they have been operating with important results, but the most important challenge for the country, before the four-year term is over, is to be connected to 70% in 4G. We set out to be on 4G by 2024, that’s where we have to focus,” she said.
