Colombian Minister of Information Technologies and Communications says that 5G auction could be held in 2021 or 2022

According to Karen Abudinen, before conducting a spectrum auction for the 5G, Colombia will bet on the connectivity of the 4G connection

In an interview with the Colombian newspaper La República, Karen Abudinen, the Minister of Information Technologies and Communications in Colombia, said that “the auction for 5G technology could be held next year or in 2022.”

Abudinen assured that before conducting a spectrum auction for the 5G, Colombia will bet on the connectivity of the 4G.

“We have 5G pilots in many areas of the country, they have been operating with important results, but the most important challenge for the country, before the four-year term is over, is to be connected to 70% in 4G. We set out to be on 4G by 2024, that’s where we have to focus,” she said.
