The Brazilian Postal Service, Correios, announced in a press release a new feature to enable users to pay taxes and import services for purchases on international websites directly through the app.
The new option, available for payments through credit card and boleto bancário (bank slip) complements the current order tracking tool and allows users to pay – within a period of 30 days after customs clearance – the postal dispatch fee (currently BRL 15), in addition to the import tax.

Users previously had the option of paying shopping fees and taxes by entering the platform ‘Minhas Importações’ (my imports) on the Correios website or by going in person at a post office. Now, the feature is available in the tracking (Rastreamento) option of the Correios app, within the tab of orders “in transit” (Em Trânsito). For now, it is available for Android smartphones but will soon be implemented on IOS, Correios informed.
According to the company, until November, Correios will expand the app features, including a new tool to let users ask for tax review.
