Epic Games partners with over 20 top clubs and Brazilian football legend Pelé in Fortnite's campaign

Epic is bringing Pelé's iconic “air punch” celebration into the game with a new emote, and promoting Pelé Cup

This Wednesday, Epic Games is featuring global football in Fortnite. The company has partnered with more than 20 top clubs and football legend Pelé to celebrate “the world’s most popular game.” The company is bringing Pelé’s iconic “Air Punch” celebration into the game with a new emote, which players can earn by participating, this Wednesday, in the Pelé Cup on January 20.

“Global football is consistently one of the top sports that our players tell us they want to see and experience in Fortnite,” said Nate Nanzer, head of global partnerships at Epic Games, in a statement to the press. “We’re excited to partner with some of the world’s largest football clubs and icons like Pelé to bring ‘the beautiful game’ to Fortnite fans around the world as they face off in competitive tournaments, experience new creative modes of gameplay, and celebrate global football.”

The partnership was developed by Sport10, Pelé’s management company, and Rebel Ventures. In addition to the new emote, Fortnite players will have the opportunity to represent their favorite clubs with new Kickoff Set Outfits, play in Club-sponsored tournaments for the opportunity to win special prizes, and visit the Creative Hub for an immersive football experience.
