Even with US pressure, Huawei sees revenue grow 18% in 2019

The company's chairman said 2020 will be a challenging year

According to CNN, China’s technology giant Huawei closed 2019 with estimated revenues of 850 billion yuan ($122 billion), up 18 percent from the previous year.

Although the company did not detail earnings by region, half of the revenue earned in 2019 came from China. The company’s chairman Eric Xu told Dow Jones e CNN that Huawei sold 240 million smartphones in 2019, a growth of 17% over 2018.

According to the executive, while the overall result represents a drop in the company’s growth rate against the 19.5% advance of 2018, the revenue achieved is positive given the restrictions imposed by the United States on the company. For 2020, Xu predicts an even more challenging scenario as restrictions on Huawei are likely to continue.
