Brazilian retailer Magazine Luiza (Magalu) announced on Tuesday two more acquisitions to strengthen its food delivery operation: ToNoLucro and GrandChef app.
ToNoLucro is a delivery app with a strong presence in Goiás, Pará, and Tocantins, present in more than 40 cities and with 5,000 registered restaurants, in addition to around 2,000 active couriers. The platform has a network of delivery people and also manages payments of the demands.
On its behalf, GrandChef is a technology platform for small and medium-sized restaurants, which helps in business management. Its customer base has more than 3,000 partner restaurants in 25 Brazilian states.

Magalu acquired AiQFome in 2020, and now the e-commerce firm consolidates itself in the fourth position in the Brazilian delivery market. During the last call with investors, the company’s CEO, Fred Trajano, reported the firm’s investments to grow on-demand grocery services.

According to Trajano, food delivery in Brazil has the potential to reach BRL 24 billion. “There are 1.6 million restaurants in Brazil, and our estimates say that only 300,000 deliver via apps. We have 20,000 of this market,” he said at the time.
