Sony announced a new PlayStation Studios brand that will be used for its first-party exclusives as a way to let customers know that a game comes from one of Sony’s in-house development teams.
The company’s idea, according to The Verge, is to focus on the PlayStation brand and highlight its exclusive games for customers. Sony presented a video of the new brand that will unite its original titles.
PlayStation Studios will launch at the end of the year alongside the PlayStation 5 console, and will cover games developed and managed by Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios.
Eric Lempel, senior vice president and head of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said that the strength of the titles coming out from Sony’s studios has been stronger than ever. “We have been thinking about how we unite all of these great games under one brand, and really the purpose of that is to make the consumer understand that, when they see this brand, they’re getting ready for a robust, innovative, deep experience that they’ve come to expect from games coming from PlayStation. So we came up with PlayStation Studios”, he said, according to GamesIndustry.
