Telefónica targets fiber units in Brazil and Chile, says executive

In Brazil, fiber networks are "progressing well", while in Chile the company is "in the process of potentially bringing investors" to the project

The Spanish telecom carrier Telefónica, that owns Vivo in Brazil, is working to find partners to create fiber units in Brazil and Chile, said the vice president of operations, Ángel Vilá, after the company established a joint venture in the area of fiber networks with the German company Allianz.

Vila said in a conference call that the Brazilian venture entered the second round of offers from potential partners and is “progressing well”, while in Chile the company is “in the process of potentially bringing investors” into the project.
