Investor and innovation expert Guilherme Horn is the new head of WhatsApp in Brazil

The executive will take office next March and will focus on increasing the use of the tool as a sales and business channel for companies of all sizes.

This Tuesday (8), WhatsApp announced the hiring of Guilherme Horn as the first head (director) of WhatsApp in Brazil. According to the company, Horn will take over next March. The focus of the new leadership will be, mainly, the establishment of new local partnerships and the development of the tool as a communication channel for companies of all sizes.

With more than 30 years of experience as an executive and entrepreneur, Horn is a specialist in innovation in Latin America. More recently, he held the position of director of strategy and innovation at BV bank. In addition, he has worked at companies such as Banco do Brasil and Accenture, and founded AGORA, a digital brokerage acquired by Bradesco in 2008, and ORAMA, the first digital investment platform in Brazil. He has also invested in more than 50 startups.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp began testing a directory of local businesses within the app to help them find new customers, allowing people to quickly discover a business they want to chat with. According to the company, WhatsApp Business, the free version of the application developed especially for small businesses, has “millions of users” in Brazil.

Large organizations in retail, travel, entertainment, and food are also among the primary users of the WhatsApp Business API, developed to assist those who need a large-scale operation to communicate with their customers.
