Brazil, Argentina, and other Top 20 markets that drive global tourism the most

According to Global Destination Cities Index Mastercard, tourism industry handled a record $ 8.8 trillion and 319 million jobs in 2018

The Global Destination Cities Index: Origins, a survey commissioned by Mastercard, revealed that Brazil and Argentina are on the list of the Top 20 markets that most promote tourism in the world. Argentina and Brazil occupy 16th and 17th places and are the only markets in Latin America that appear on the list.

The study also shows that, according to the World Travel and Tourism, the travel industry handled a record $ 8.8 trillion and 319 million jobs worldwide in 2018. The Index itself also shows the destinations that are most visited by tourists of those Top 20 countries. For an example, the favorite destination for Brazilians is the United States (41.7%), followed by Italy (7.9%) and Argentina (7%). In the cities category, only the US enters with New York (11.2%), Orlando (10.9%) and Miami (9.7%).

The Global Destination Cities Index Mastercard: Origins specifically classifies the cities of origin of people traveling internationally, in addition to the top destinations visited. Check out the complete Top 20 rankings below:
