57% prefer Internet banking, against 49% from before the pandemic, shows global survey

A study conducted by Capgemini and Efma with 11,200 account holders from 11 countries and 80 global retail bank executives found out that Internet banking users went from 49% to 57% after Covid-19. As first reported by Brazilian media outlet Exame, the results, consolidated on the World Retail Banking Report 2020, also found that 55% of respondents use apps from financial institutions, compared to a previous 47%.

In Brazil, country that had also taken part in Capgemini’s survey, 44% of all bank transactions in 2019–or 39.4 billion, out of the total 89.9 billion– were carried out by smartphone, according to the annual banking technology survey held by Febraban and Deloitte. Mobile channels were 19% more used in 2019 than in the previous year.
