Brazilians that need government’s financial aid due to the isolation measures regarding COVID-19 pandemic can now register to receive a BRL $600 (about $114) monthly aid through a mobile app. The app called “Caixa Auxílio Emergencial” is being used to identify informal workers who are not registered with any government social program base.
After registration, the citizen can check if the aid request was accepted or not by the government through the app itself or on the website of the state-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal. Once approved, the financial aid must be deposited in the citizen’s bank account within five days.
The app has already received more than 3.5 million subscriptions. It’s expected that 15 million Brazilians will register today and 40 million until Thursday.
