Coronavirus outbreak worsening in Argentina has caused Conmebol, continental governing body of soccer in South America, to suspend Copa America soccer championship scheduled to begin next 13th in Argentina.
The entity is meeting on Monday to decide on a new country to host it, and the cancellation of the competition is not ruled out. Colombia, who would at first host Copa America, also left the event’s organization due to the social protests.
Copa America is the main men’s soccer tournament contested among national teams from South America.
