Initial signs that the spread of the virus may be easing in South America’s largest country, third-ranked India could overtake Brazil in coronavirus cases within days.
Brazil has registered nearly 4.1 million cases of the virus and its death toll has risen to 125,521, since the pandemic began, in the world’s second worst outbreak after the United States.
Mexico, the second-most affected country in Latin America, reported a total of 623,090 cases and 66,851 deaths, as of Friday night.
The government has said the real number of infected people is likely significantly higher than the confirmed cases.
