As unemployment advances, the number of micro entrepreneurs rises 12.6% in Brazil

Since enterprises are promoting layoffs because of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, more and more Brazilians are becoming micro-entrepreneurs. The unemployment in Brazil, considering data before the coronavirus, made the number of micro-entrepreneurs begin its growth in the Q1.

The number of individual entrepreneurs in Brazil rose 12.6% in relation to the same period of the previous year, according to Revista Pequenas Empresas e Grandes Negócios. Autonomous workers in Brazil represented 81.7% of new company registers in the first quarter.
