Amid the spreading of the new coronavirus pandemic across Brazil, the City of São Paulo, Ambev, Gerdau and the Albert Einstein Hospital announced on Tuesday that they had joined forces to build a new treatment center for COVID-19, with 100 hospital beds, according to the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo. The building will be used by the Brazilian Health Care Public System (SUS). The companies want to finish the health unit in up to 40 days.
There are other companies in Brazil willing to help: Itaú Unibanco, the largest Brazilian bank, announced the donation of BRL 150 million to aid the fight against coronavirus, Valor Econômico reported. The amount will be used in hospital infrastructure, purchase of medical equipments, in addition to food and hygiene kits.
