Brazil and Chile have adopted more health measures in Latin America

The most recent data from the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) reports that Brazil and Chile are the countries that have most adopted strategies for fighting Covid-19 pandemic in the region. Brazil took 87 measures and Chile 52, most of which focused on hospitals, says La República.

The health measures ranged from mandatory lockdowns to allocating resources to improve hospitals and hire more health personnel. The countries in the region where the most was invested in health according to the GDP are Chile (4.5%) and Colombia (2.8%), followed by Ecuador (2.5%), Peru (2.4%), Brazil (2%) and Mexico (1.1%).
