E-commerce sales skyrocketed 155% in May compared to the same month in 2019 in Brazil, according to a research by Synapcom reported by Valor. The coronavirus pandemic accelerated the rise of e-commerce sales.
The survey shows that in January and February, together, the increase reached 17%, followed by an increase of 38% in March, 60% in April.
Among the segments, the highlight was the 236% increase in food and beverages, and 143% in technological and household equipment. The beauty and health segment increased its sales by 116% in May and the clothing, shoes and accessories stores grew 66% in online sales.
