Brazil will receive the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac this week, said the Brazilian Butantan Institute.
As reported by Reuters, Dimas Covas, the director of Butantan, told a congressional committee monitoring Brazil’s COVID-19 response that preliminary results of the trials that the Institute has been conducting in Brazil indicate that the vaccine has an excellent safety profile.
He also said Butantan expects to have 46 million doses ready in January pending approval of the vaccine by Brazil’s health regulator Anvisa.
