Brazilian card industry considers contactless payments of up to BRL 100

The coronavirus ongoing situation in Brazil made the Brazilian card industry consider increasing the value allowed for contactless payments which don’t require typing passwords, reported Folha de S. Paulo. Currently, the limit is BRL 50 ($8.44).

Since the COVID-19 increased demand for contactless payments in a way to avoid the risk of infection, industry executives familiar to the matter told Folha that the new ceiling would go up close to BRL 100 ($16,88).
