Brazilian companies pledged $30 million in contributions to fight pandemic

Companies from various sectors have announced contributions in cash and in health supplies to fight the coronavirus spread in Brazil. Adding only actions with disclosed donation values, Coluna do Broadcast, a column in O Estado de S. Paulo, calculates that around BRL 170 million ($30 million) were pledged. In addition to this, companies have also announced free distribution of cleaning supplies such as alcohol and bar soap.

To reinforce the structure of hospitals, a task force among companies to produce respirators is an initiative highlighted by the newspaper. At the same time, a group of entrepreneurs is mobilizing to increase the manufacture of pulmonary ventilators. Klabin, Suzano, Positivo, MagnaMed Tecnologia Médica and Flex came together to reach the goal of 5,000 fans for delivery in 30 days.
