Brazilian Ministry of Health authorized on Sunday the use of all stored vaccine doses for the second shot for immediate use. The measure aims to increase the number of vaccinated people in Brazil.
Until now, states were saving lots of vaccines for the second shot, due to uncertainty about when new doses would arrive and the fear of using the available doses, and then, there would be no vaccine for the second shot, which hampers immunization.
As informed by the Ministry of Health, Minister Eduardo Pazuello decided to authorize the use of stored doses because there are plans for new weekly deliveries of vaccines produced by the Butantan Institute and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. According to the government, suppliers guarantee delivery.
