Brazilian digital wallet PicPay in partnership with NGO Cufa (Central Única das Favelas) launched a campaign to back the social project Mothers of the Favela, an initiative to support residents of disadvantaged communities fighting the pandemic.
Benefits of BRL 120 will be distributed to about 5,000 mothers living in favelas around 12 Brazilian states, as informed by PicPay in its Twitter account. Donations can be made from BRL 5, by looking for @Cufa in the search field of the digital wallet’s app.
“We chose PicPay because, besides being an easy app, it doesn’t require a physical card, which avoids direct contact between people. Just by the digital wallet is possible to receive this money with the greatest ease. The value of BRL 120 was set taking into account the basic items of a food basket,” Celso Athayde, founder of Cufa, said in a video released on the NGO’s social networks.
