The fitness plans startup Gympass dismissed part of its staff in the midst of the crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic . According to news published by Forbes Brasil, almost a third of the employees were laid off.
In a press release, the startup does not confirm the number of people who were dismissed. Gympass had around 1,300 employees worldwide and is present in 14 countries. The startup is a Brazilian unicorn, with a market valuation above $ 1 billion.
“Gympass, like many other companies in the fitness market, was deeply affected by Covid-19. With most gyms being forced to close, and with cancellations by users, we need to cut costs, which included the most difficult decision of all: reduce our team,” wrote Gympass in a statement.
