The consolidated sales of the Carrefour Brasil Group in the first quarter of 2020 reached BRL 15.881 billion, an increase of 12.2% compared to the same period in 2019.
According to a relevant fact disclosed by the company this Monday evening, the expansion strategy in wholesale formats and proximity in the last 12 months was responsible for additional growth of 4.3%.

The gross revenue of Atacadão, the wholesale brand of the Carrefour Brasil Group, reached BRL 10.8 billion in the first quarter, a 13.6% growth over 2019. According to the company, the growth was intensified by the pre-quarantine storage movement, with higher average tickets and more concentrated purchases, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, Atacadão’s LFL was already experiencing a strong positive trend due to the good moment observed in 4Q19, due in part to a successful Black Friday. With the current scenario, which revealed atypical patterns of purchases at Atacadão in the last two weeks of March (from March 14 to March 31), growth accelerated, even more, reaching 18.6% in this period”, said the company.
Sales of Carrefour Varejo (without gasoline sales), in its turn, grew 9.1%, to BRL 4.5 billion.
