Chilean government announces an investment plan in public works of $34 billion

Chilean President Sebastián Piñera presented this Sunday an investment program in public works called “Plan Paso a Paso Chile se Recupera”, Spanish for “step by step recovering Chile plan”. It represents an investment of $34 billion.

The initiative to rebound Chilean economy, after the coronavirus sanitary-economic crisis, aims to create 250,000 jobs between 2020 and 2022. According to La República, the program gathers 2,544 projects in housing, roads, ports and airports, hydraulic works and rural irrigation, besides the expansion of the Santiago subway and the railway network.
